Memorial Feast of the New Month / Festival Year Opening Spring Festival Season

The head of months ordained by Yahuah in Exodus 12:1-2, establishing the sacred festival calendar following the spring equinox.

1. Full Explanation & Theological Foundation

Scripture does not measure the spiritual year by civil traditions of mid-winter, but by the awakening of creation in the spring. In Exodus 12:1-2, while Israel was still in Egypt, Yahuah spoke to Moses and Aaron and reset their entire measurement of time: “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.” The month is Aviv (meaning “green ears of barley”). It represents spiritual renewal, divine deliverance, and the awakening of covenant life. Our present working calendar uses the sun to keep Passover within the Aviv/spring season and the first reasonably naked-eye-visible renewed crescent to begin the month. We do not require Month 1 Day 1 itself to fall after the equinox; the qualifying month is the one whose Passover falls within spring. Month 1 calls the assembly to spiritual inventory, consecration of the dwelling, and preparation of hearts for the approaching Passover.

2. A Celebration: How to Observe & Walk in this Day

1. **Spiritual Renewal & Prayer:** Take time as households and assemblies to dedicate the upcoming biblical year to Yahuah, seeking His guidance, wisdom, and protection. 2. **Sounding of the Shofar:** Numbers 10:10 commands the blowing of trumpets at the beginning of months over our offerings and prayers as a memorial before Elohim. 3. **Passover Preparation Countdown:** Day 1 marks the 14-day runway to Passover. Begin reviewing pantry supplies, planning the Passover memorial meal, and cleaning out physical and spiritual leaven. 4. **Consecration of the Family:** Gather for evening Scripture reading, blessing of children, and praise for the Father’s unfailing covenant promises. 5. **Hospitality & Fellowship:** Reach out to brethren, checking on needs across the assembly to ensure every family is supported for the spring festival season.
